Opening the passage…
The game rearranges scenes from Chapters II–IV into an imagined escape. Its floor plans, patrols and tools are invented.
Bram Stoker, Dracula (1897). Jonathan Harker’s journal, from the prepared Project Gutenberg edition #345. The game’s drawings and other words are original to this adaptation. This reference visit leaves your main reading place and chapter limit unchanged.
Hold the on-screen arrows, or use the arrow keys or W A S D. Two directions together move diagonally. Release to stop.
Each new room opens with a passage from Harker’s journal. Start when you are ready; the opening and its source visit are untimed. A retry returns straight to play.
Find the objects marked on the floor. Walk close to pick them up, open a matching lock, force the shutters with the crowbar, or turn the winch. Carry tools through the five rooms. The handle, rope and spindle fit the final winch; the gate key releases its chain. Stairs lead onward, and the south gate ends the escape.
Move fully into a dark alcove to hide. In shadow confirms you are safe. Red fans show where each patrol can see. If the warning fills, you are caught; get out of sight to clear it. Touching a patrol also gives you away.
The later rooms are wider and deeper. The view follows Harker; a small arrow beside the goal points to an object beyond the view. Floor plan pauses play and shows the whole room.
Use Pause or Space to stop. Switching away or rotating a phone pauses the game too. Resume when you are ready.
This is a visual timing game. It has keyboard controls and spoken status changes, but no equivalent nonvisual play mode. Cleared rooms and the gentler setting are saved in this browser. Reloading starts the current room again. Retry keeps cleared rooms; Replay all rooms starts from the guest wing. An earlier three-room save keeps whichever of the first two rooms you cleared. If both were cleared, continue at the new chapel. The earlier save is preserved. Reader notes and reading progress are separate.
